NYT essay contest: "Modern Love"

(March 15, 2011) Dr J appears on Issues, Etc, where she and Todd Wilken discuss the New York Times' essay contest on "modern love."  They paint a gloomy picture of it...  Aren't "revolutions" ostensibly meant to improve things?  Why are we sticking with the tenets of the sexual revolution if they leave everyone so miserable?

DoMA and the UK foster system

(March 2, 2011) Dr J is once again a guest on Issues, Etc., where she and Todd discuss a couple of marriage-related issues.  In the US, President Obama's refusal to defend DoMA, the Defense of Marriage Act, is in the news.  In Great Britain, a couple has been removed from the foster care system because they aren't willing to indoctrinate the children in their care with sufficiently celebratory views on homosexuality.  These issues are being used to create a "new moral universe"--we hear a lot about "live and let live," but that definitely isn't what's going on here.

Eggsploitation

(March 15, 2011) Dr J traveled up to the Los Angeles area for a screening of "Eggsploitation," Jennifer Lahl's documentary on the fertility industry--in particular, the way egg donors are used by the process.  (Jennifer Lahl is one of Ruth Institute's academic advisors.)  She gives a short talk after the screening but before the author's Q&A.

Absent Motherhood

(March 8, 2011) Dr J and Todd Wilken meet on Issues, Etc. to discuss author Rahna Reiko Rizzuto's attempts to justify abandoning her family.  One wonders if she would be a guest on so many television shows if she were male instead of female.
